About WOC WORLDWIDE
WOC Worldwide came to fruition due to the lack of community for women of color in specific professional spaces. Our first event in 2018 was a brunch, during New York Fashion Week, at the exclusive Ludlow House in Soho. We hosted the top WOC in fashion and technology creating an intimate space to discuss their experiences and celebrate their success. We believe that community is the foundation of success, and we know this community matters!
For that reason, we engage a broad audience of black and brown professionals and consumers with events, content, and opportunities to feel seen and heard. For over 6 years, we’ve supported research and programming putting women of color and minority consumers at the forefront of our work, engaging a broad audience of black and brown professionals and consumers with events and content. True to our track record, we continue to amplify women of color as the most important consumer - driving trends and spending in the US.
Our community includes brand founders, retail professionals, product enthusiast and consumers. Today we continue our mission through in-person events and a digital platform connecting +5,000 minority women and allies for important and timely conversations.
OUR WHY
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20% of businesses in the United States fail within their first year of operation. After five years, 48.4%. In terms of business longevity, the retail trade industry ranks second for the percentages of businesses that fail within 10 years. However, it is important to note that retail and wholesale are the sixth and seventh highest-ranking contributors to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). These statistics highlight the significance of achieving success in the retail and wholesale sectors, as it directly contributes to the overall economy.
In 2023, the US Census Bureau revealed a record-breaking 5,481,437 new businesses were started and according to Wells Fargo, the number of women-owned businesses increased at nearly double the rate of their male counterparts, while Black women and Latina entrepreneurs emerged from the pandemic stronger than all women-owned employers. Our goal is simple: To empower and support women in building scalable businesses instead of trading time for money, so they can experience the time freedom and financial freedom they deserve.
